Three Lee’s Summit Schools Experience Simultaneous Lock-downs
Nov. 19, 2012
On Monday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. LSPD requested for RHE, BCMS and
LSN to go on lock-down. An already short and chaotic school week due to
Thanksgiving Break, students, staff and parents questioned the cause of
the lock-down. The School District notified the parents by email, that
their schools were on lock-down.
Sergeant Christopher Depue, public information officer for the Lee's Summit Police department stated that the cause of the lock-down was a domestic issue. Students were not allowed to leave or enter the buildings because a father was attempting to pick up his children who attend RHE, BCMS and LSN.
The schools remained on lock-down until ll:28 a.m. when Sergeant Depue stated "All three LS Schools have been removed from lock-down status. We have the suspect in custody and the all clear has been given."
