Tricycle Transit comes to Downtown Lee’s Summit

Barry Meitler is in love with Lee’s Summit. He moved here a year ago and fell in love with the area especially downtown. An electrician by trade, Barry is committed to doing anything he can to add to what we already have here and hopefully bring more people and revenue into downtown.
Tricycle Transit is a pedicab service available in downtown Kansas City, at Power and Light, Crown Center, Westport and other areas around KC. And now Barry is bringing Tricycle Transit to downtown Lee’s Summit. Billed as the New Green Ride (On Red Trikes) pedicab services are eco-friendly, short distance, urban transportation.
License and permits in place, Tricycle Transit first hit the streets of Lee’s Summit, Thursday night, May 12th. Beginning with a 1 mile radius of downtown, Barry plans to expand with demand and is looking at a variety of future opportunities such as historic tours and food delivery. But first will be weekends, catering to both shoppers and the bar and restaurant crowds. Barry plans to be a strong presence at downtown events beginning with Friday Night Concerts in the Park.
“Everyone who grabs a ride enjoys it,” Barry stated, “but the women seem to especially love the romantic side of being catered to… carried off in a carriage.” Downtown resident and business owner Sue Pfeiffer has been a proponent since the beginning and said, “I believe the pedicab will add an unique service that can be used in so many different ways in our downtown.”
