On Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 7:30 PM, the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a structure fire that caused extensive damage to a home at 1761 SE Silkwood Lane. The fire originated in the garage. Flammable vapors from wood finishing materials were ignited by a nearby space heater and the fire quickly spread throughout the garage and the floor above.

Everyone was out of the house when firefighters arrived, but one person was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
