On Sunday, August 12, 2012, at 4:58 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1505 NE Wall Street.
A passerby reported heavy smoke coming from the house. Attempts to contact the residents at the house were unsuccessful, but a neighbor was able account for everyone living there by phone.
When the fire department arrived, heavy smoke was visible from a two-story, single family residence. The fire crews were able to knock down the fire located in the area of the utility room. A search of the house confirmed that it was unoccupied. The fire was under control by 5:30 p.m.
Fire damage was contained to the laundry/utility room and a portion of attic, with heavy smoke damage throughout the remainder of the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
