Vote for Bernard Campbell Middle School in the Pepsi Refresh Project

UPDATE:
The seventh-grade science teachers at Bernard Campbell Middle School are requesting your help again. Their “Inspire Future Scientists” project received enough votes during December that it will be up for voting in the Pepsi Refresh Project throughout the month of January. The goal of their project is to purchase classroom sets of iPads. These tools will be used to increase student involvement, increase retention, and inspire a love for science learning.

The project ranked 24th during voting during December through Pepsi Refresh. As of Jan. 5, the project was ranked 17th. In order to win, BCMS must be one of the top 10 projects based on public voting. The voting process only takes a few minutes each day. Votes can be submitted via text, through Facebook, and by logging on to Pepsi’s Refresh webpage. You may visit www.tech4mustangs.com to see the text number and to submit your votes on-line. To text directly, text 104563 to (PEPSI) 73774.

Help win a $50,000 Grant for Bernard Campbell Middle School 7th Grade Science Department..

The Pepsi Refresh project is looking for people, businesses and non-profits with ideas that will have a positive impact.  Pepsi has invited the public to “look around your community and think how you want to change it.”

Each month the first 1000 ideas are categorized as Arts & Culture; Food & Shelter; The Planet; Neighborhoods and Education and are eligible for grants to be awarded based on the public’s vote.  Monthly up to $1.3 million will be awarded as follows: 2 Grants at the $250,000 level; 10 Grants at the $50,000 level; 10 Grants at the $25,000 level and 10 Grants at the $5,000 level.

During the month of December, Bernard Campbell Middle School Science Department is competing for a $50,000 grant to refresh the science program.  Their goal is to “Inspire future scientists through the use of classroom sets of iPads and iPod touches.”

According to BCMS Homepage, “Young people today have access to more information and technology than ever before, but when they are at school they are expected to learn using antiquated methods. Our students go from high speed downloading at home to zero speed learning at school. They are dynamic learners, eager to learn about the sophisticated and technologically based world that they live in. As teachers we want to give them the tools to help them become flexible, creative, lifelong science learners.”

What is needed to make this a reality is YOU.  Just a few minutes of your day, everyday through the end of December vote!

There are four ways that you can vote everyday, and since each counts as a separate vote, you can vote 4 times a day.

• Text 104563 to Pepsi (73774)
