What I REID Into It, "Houston we have a problem".
October 18, 2013
By Fred Liggett of the Tribune
We've all heard the phrase "Houston we have a problem".
For the NFL's Houston Texans they have many problems. The Texans were expected to battle Baltimore for AFC supremacy in 2013. Instead the team is limping into Kansas City Sunday with a 2-4 record.
Starting Quarterback Matt Schaub instead of marching his team back to the playoffs has thrown 9 interceptions so far this season. Schaub may not add to that total against the Chiefs due to an ankle injury he suffered last Sunday. Ineffectiveness among the Texans veterans has the Houston fan base all upset. Evidence of that came during last week's 38-13 loss to St.Louis as fans cheered when Schaub left the game due to injury.
Whether Schaub or his backup, TJ Yates start, Houston will face a whole set of new problems in Kansas City.
The Chiefs defense had 10 sacks and 3 interceptions in last Sunday's 24-7 home win over Oakland. Chiefs Linebackers, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston have won 3 of the 6 AFC Defensive player of the week honors this year.
Combine Houston's turnover prone offense and the Chiefs opportunistic defense I can foresee Texans coach Gary Kubiak dialing a 1-800 helpline before checking out of Kansas City.
Regardless of how severe Houston's problems are NFL Fans will be entertained Sunday by watching Areian Foster and Jamaal Charles the top two AFC running backs this year.
Last week the Chiefs only gave up 7 points, this week they claim their 7th victim of 2013.
