What I REID Into It: Week #14 Washington

December 7, 2013

By Fred Liggett

Iíve been seeing and hearing a lot of disappointing news according to popular opinion coming from our nationís capitol. Well you donít need to be a Democrat, Republican or even an Independent to realize that the football team that represents this region has been a huge disappointment in 2013.

Combined with the exciting abilities of QB Robert Griffin III and the veteran coaching from Mike Shanahan things were supposed to be really good for the Washington Redskins in 2013. Instead Griffinís 2nd NFL season has been riddled with inconsistency and some NFL experts believe he still isnít 100% from his knee injury suffered in 2012.

Coach Shanahan is taking heat for some odd coaching moves made this season in an effort to turn the Redskins fortunes around. Fans are howling for some changes to be made now that the team is mired in a four game losing streak and sit at 3-9 on the year.

The fortunes of the Kansas City Chiefs havenít been too good lately either as they enter this weekís game at 9-3. The Chiefs have lost three in a row and all 3 losses coming against AFC West foes. First year head coach Andy Reid has been perfect so far in getting the Chiefs to beat NFC East teams. After victories over the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles all that remains from a complete season sweep is a victory Sunday at Washington.

I sense the Redskins have the perfect domestic policy to allow the Chiefs to return to the win column. A win on Sunday would not only be the Chiefs 10th win on the season but combined with a Miami loss would qualify them for the playoffs. After a pair of disappointing losses at home the Chiefs are ready to right the ship and will make that clear appearing before a large house of representatives Sunday in Washington DC.

I feel itís great we will finally have some good news coming out of our nations capitol. This news is something all Democrats, Republicans and even Independents can agree on.

Thatís what I REID Into it this week.
