Chiefs come home to a House of Horror

Chiefs come home to a House of Horror

September 30, 2012

By Fred Liggett

After winning their first game of the season on the road last week the Kansas City Chiefs looked forward to coming home Sunday and earning a victory over division rival San Diego. Committing 6 turnovers, 5 of them in the 1st quarter alone, The Chiefs never had a chance in a 37-20 loss. Before the Chiefs offense ran 5 plays the team found themselves down 17-0. The Chargers feasted on 3 Matt Cassell interceptions and 3 fumbles by Chiefs Running backs. This compared to last year's meeting between the two teams at Arrowhead where it was the Chargers fumbling away their chances at victory in a 23-20 Chiefs overtime win. The game was played on Halloween, October 31, 2011.

The Chiefs did win in several offensive categories, 6 more first downs, 60 more net yards as they out rushed and out passed their opponent. The Chargers return to the West coast though with their 8th win over the Chiefs in the last 5 seasons. Up next for the Chiefs is another home game, this time they host the Baltimore Ravens at 12Noon on Sunday, Oct. 07.

Long time KC Chiefs fans wished for the team's Ring of Honor to return to the facade at Arrowhead Stadium and they got their wish on Sunday. The Ring of Honor is a standing tribute to all the individuals who have been inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. There are now 42 names on the Ring of Honor after Chiefs great Will Shields was inducted on Sunday.
