Chiefs Season Opener ruined by a Group of Dirty Birds
September 10, 2012
By Fred Liggett
The Atlanta Falcons Defense for a number of years has been referred to as "the Dirty Birds" and they were on display Sunday at the Kansas City Chiefs home opener.
Thanks to three turnovers, one fumble and two interceptions, the Atlanta Falcons won 40-24 in Sunday's NFL opener for both teams. Despite the final score the game was a close one for 3 quarters. Each team traded scores until the second half win the Falcons used the turnovers to score quickly and put the game out of reach.
The scoreboard clearly had the Falcons on top, but the Chiefs fared well in several other categories. The Chiefs won the time of possession battle, total first downs total rushing yards. The Chiefs will try to win the scoreboard battle the next time they take the field which is this Sunday at Buffalo. The Chiefs return to Arrowhead in three weeks when they host AFC West rival San Diego on Sunday, Sept. 30th.
