The Kansas City Chiefs used two long scoring drives and two defensive turnovers Sunday to secure a 17-16 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The win gives the Chiefs a 2-0 mark for the first time since the 2010 season a year that ended with the team in the playoffs.
The Chiefs were on offense first and opened the game with a 13 play drive for 77 yards that ended with a touchdown. Alex Smith found Jamaal Charles for a 2 yard TD pass.
The Cowboys scored the game’s next 10 points and led 10-7 at halftime. The first time the Chiefs touched the ball in the second half they went 80 yards on 10 plays that ended with a Touchdown.
This time it was QB Alex Smith finding Dwayne Bowe for a 12 yard TD Pass. The drive gave the Chiefs a 14-13 lead and they would not trail again. The Cowboys did tack on a 53 yard Field goal by Dean Bailey in the 4th quarter but that was it as the KC Chiefs defense took over from there. Two fumble recoveries in the quarter proved fatal for the Cowboys offense attempt for a comeback win.
The 2-0 Chiefs now head back out on the road for a Thursday night game at Philadelphia.
