Since arriving in Missouri, Jacob Doty has helped the Mavericks with an uptick in team scoring. “Dots,” as he is called by his teammates, is a flashy forward who has helped the team from his frontline position.
The 23-year-old is now in his third season as a pro hockey player. Previously, Jacob has spent time with ECHL's Alaska Aces and the AHL's Chicago Wolves. Dots’ favorite pro sports team is the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and that's mainly due to him playing junior hockey in the Seattle area. He is a native of Billings, Montana and has his parents, an uncle, and a cousin still rooting him on from home.
Dots’ favorite hockey memory so far is when he signed his first professional contract. He first put on a pair of skates at the age of three. If not in pro hockey today, Dots feels he would be working in real estate. He usually watches his favorite TV shows while on the road with the Mavericks. He pre-downloads the episodes before getting on the bus then catches up while on the road. Dots does cook but leaves a lot of it to his fiancé. When he does cook, it's steaks on the grill outside.
Hardnosed and tough to play against; that is how Dots wishes to be remembered following his playing days. He enjoyed visiting the Country Club Plaza here in Kansas City and is looking forward to seeing other areas of the KC Metroplex.
Catch up on Dots and the rest of the Mavericks when they return home on Wednesday, December 28 to host fellow Mountain Division member Utah. The fun begins inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
