Meet a Maverick: Kyle Hood

February 23, 2013

Kyle Hood

By Fred Liggett
Special to The Tribune

Coming up on his 2 month anniversary of being a Missouri Maverick Forward Kyle Hood hopes to have the same success here as he did at his last stop in the CHL.

The 28 year old right hander is playing in his 6th pro season with most of the time spent in the Central Hockey League. Hoodie as he is called by his teammates was traded to Missouri on Dec. 13th by the Arizona Sundogs a team he started his career with in the 2007-08 season. That season saw Kyle play in 16 playoff games and ended with him scoring the winning goal as Arizona won  the Ray Miron Cup.

Hoodie’s favorite team is the Chicago Blackhawks largely because a good childhood friend of his plays for them. The One time Ohio State Buckeye hails from Osoyoos, British Columbia. Still at home cheering him on is his Mom, dad and sister.

Here in Kansas City his wife and son root him on from the stands. Kyle’s career goal is to win another championship and get back to that feeling of hoisting a Cup. If Hoodie wasn’t in hockey he would like to be a Fly Fishing guide.

While on the Mavs team bus he prefers to watch movies. IF a movie were to be made of his life Kyle hopes Brad Pitt gets the role. When he does cook Hoodie does Gourmet Hot Dogs. When his playing days are over Kyle wishes to be remembered as someone who gave it everything they had. Hoodie’s favorite spot in Kansas city area is the home of the Mavericks, the Independence Events Center. Kyle loves to see the place when it’s sold out which has happened 11 times so far in 2012-13. Hood and his teammates hope their next game will be sold out when the Mavericks host the Wichita Thunder.

The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night inside the Independence Events Center.
