One of the 12 newcomers to the Missouri Mavericks roster this season came from an ivy league school. Surprised? Don’t be because Mavericks forward Rob Kleebaum is quick to mention the names of four Princeton University grads currently dotting rosters in the NHL and AHL.
Kleebaum is not only in his 1st year as a Maverick but his inaugural season as a pro.
Baumer as his teammates call him did play five games for the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL to help them finish their season. The 24 -year old hails from Edmonton, Alberta but claims to be a big Calgary Flames fan.
Still at home rooting him on is his dad, mom and a younger sister.
Rob’s Favorite hockey memory was winning the Alberta Cup as a youth. The Alberta cup is a tournament where the whole province competes in.
He first put on a pair of skates at the age of three. Following his playing days “Baumer” hope to be remembered as someone who was always improving, always getting better.
On those long CHL bus rides on road trips Rob likes to listen to a lot of music. If a movie is ever made of his life Rob hopes actor Leonard DiCaprio gets the role. Kleebaum likes to cook and when he does it’s usually Fish tacos. Rob’s favorite place in Kansas City is the plaza though he laments he has yet to see the famous holiday light display the Plaza is famous for.
The left handed forward calls his playing days at Princeton as an “ awesome experience.” While at Princeton Rob majored in Economics. Mavericks fans don’t need a degree to find a good ticket deal to catch the team in action.
After a four game road trip the Mavericks return to home ice on new year’s eve when they host the Tulsa Oilers
