The Missouri Mavericks hockey team is celebrating their 5th season of existence and hoping it will be a memorable year. To help them reach there goals the team has signed 3 new goaltenders. The one with the most experience, Shane Owen, is starting the season in goal.
This 1st year Maverick spent the last two seasons with the Utah Grizzlies of the East Coast Hockey League. Owen is happy too be here and hopes to see a KC Chiefs game sometime this year. "Shaner" as his teammates call him is from Toronto, Ontario Canada.
Owen has 2 older brothers, his mom and dad cheering him on from home. No surprise then that Shane’s favorite teams are the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. The Left-handed goaltender’s favorite hockey memory was winning the president’s Cup in while playing Junior hockey in Canada. Also pretty high on his list is going to training camp with the New Jersey Devils and getting tips from All Star Martin Brodeur.
Owen was 3 years old when he first put on a pair of skates. If not in hockey today he would be a fireman with his brother. Shane’s career goal is to play pro hockey as long as he can. On those long CHL road bus trips Owen plans to catch up on his TV shows on his laptop. When he finds time Shane does cook and he favors BBQ Chicken when he does.
If a movie is ever made of his life he hopes TV star Josh Dushamel gets the lead role. When his career is over Owen hopes to be remembered as a guy a team can count on.
