What I REID Into It: November 18, 2017

Just about everyone enjoys having seconds. Whether it's a second trip through a buffet line, a second show of their favorite artist or a second chance at a job interview, having seconds are a good thing. The Kansas City Chiefs certainly enjoyed the first half of the 2017 NFL season by going 6-3 and leading the AFC West Division by 2 games. Now the second half of the season begins with the Chiefs looking for more of what they saw in the 1st half.

A national champion in college, and now here in Missouri pursuing a professional championship, is Mavericks newcomer Alex Brooks. A right-handed defenseman, Brooks won a NCAA D-III national championship while a senior at Wisconsin Stevens-Point in 2016.

Brooksy, as his new teammates call him, is now in his 2nd year of pro hockey, having played last season with Fayetteville of the Southern Pro Hockey League. Count Mavericks Head Coach John Scott-Dickson as among those glad Brooks is here.

Meet a Maverick: Tyler Parsons #1

Ask any sports fan about players who wear jersey #1, and the response will be about an exciting player who scores a lot. This season, the Kansas City Mavericks are hoping the player wearing #1 will provide excitement to a game by preventing anyone from scoring.

A first year pro, goaltender Tyler Parsons is now in Kansas City to continue the franchise history with excellent goaltending. Parsons started the 2017-18 season in pre-season camp with both Calgary and Stockton before being sent to Kansas City. Parse, as his new teammates call him, is excited about being here and performing in front of sell-out crowds at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

What I REID Into It: November 4, 2017

As the NFL season wears on, every game seems to get bigger. That's the case here for the Chiefs as they head south to play the Dallas Cowboys. Everything seems to be bigger in Dallas, thanks to the new AT&T Stadium built by team owner Jerry Jones. The largest scoreboard in the NFL sits inside the stadium where the team has made big headlines so far in 2017.

Two KC Chiefs Hall of Fame Members Recognized Before Monday Night Football Game

The Kansas City Chiefs set aside one weekend per season as "Alumni Weekend.” For three days, former KC Chiefs players get together for a golf game. They socialize and talk about old times before finishing with a game, where an ex Chief is inducted into the team's Hall of Fame.

This year, the Chiefs added even more fun to the 3-day weekend for all the former Chiefs by officially naming the KC Chiefs television booth inside Arrowhead Stadium in honor of pro football hall of fame QB Len Dawson. Dawson played for the KC Chiefs from 1963-75. Then Dawson began his broadcasting career in 1966 at KMBC TV 9. Later Dawson would hold a number of broadcast roles at HBO's “Inside the NFL,” NBC Sports before ending with a 33 year run on the Chiefs Radio network.

Rockhurst at Lee's Summit West (Friday Night Lights Tour Stop)

It's 2016 all over again as this match-up was also a district semi-final game last post-season. Rockhurst is once again playing well at the end of the year and comes in at 7-3. Last week the Hawklets beat LS North 7-0. That stingy defense will be on display again as they try to contain the LS West speed. In what will be a close and memorable playoff game, Rockhurst will repeat the 2016 result with a victory at LS West.
