The Kansas University Water Ski Club, Team Sprayhawks has been very successful this season.
They placed in the top five at all tournaments so far, most recently placing fourth at the Midwest Collegiate Regional Championships. This qualified Team Sprayhawks to go to Collegiate Water Ski Nationals in Zachary, Louisiana October 18 through October 20. They competed against 21 other water ski teams.
“We were ecstatic to have the opportunity to make it to nationals this year,”Chloe Huxol said. “Our team has gained a lot of talented skiers this season and we’ve worked incredibly hard to get where we are.”
Through enthusiastic teamwork, resolute friendship and persistent dedication, Team Sprayhawks has accumulated 30 individual medals in tournaments this year. They are ranked eighth in the nation.
Hosted by the National Collegiate Water Ski Association (NCWSA), Nationals included 12 teams in Division 1, including Team Sprayhawks, and 10 teams in Division 2. National team champions were declared in both divisions. Individual medals for slalom, tricks and jumping were awarded based on athletes’ placements within their division. Overall titles were awarded in each division to athletes competing in all three events.
Team Sprayhawks took ninth place in the nation at Nationals. Congratulations to Miss Chloe Huxol and her team!
