The Sports Zone At Downtown Days

Area sports fans can once again visit with area pro-sports stars, win prizes at Sports Trivia and catch live radio broadcasts from sports radio 810 WHB at the 810 Sports Zone during the Downtown Days Festival June 6, 7 and 8. 

Friday's fun begins at 2 p.m. with an appearance from the MISL Champion Missouri Comets Soccer team. Along with meeting selected players, fans can see and have their picture taken with the MISL CUP. 
Soccer fans will want to stop by from 4-6 p.m. Friday to visit with stars from FC-Kansas City Blues Women's soccer team. 

At 6 p.m. women from the Kansas City Storm Pro Football Team will appear to talk about their current season. 

Jon Beck, an area resident who is a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, will complete Friday's line up starting at 8 p.m.  

Saturday begins with a baseball theme with Kansas City T-Bones selected players from 10 a.m. to noon. 
From noon to 2 p.m., sports fans can visit with players who used to call the Truman Sports Complex home.

Jaime Bluma from the Kansas City Royals and Alphonso Hodge, a Kansas City Chiefs Alum, will appear. 
At 4 p.m., Nick Garcia, a long time Kansas City Wizards soccer star, will visit with area fans about winning the MLS cup in 2000 and the state of the current team. 

From 7-9 p.m,. visit with several members of the Kansas City Roller Warriors roller derby team. 
Sunday starts at 11 a.m. when area softball stars from Lee's Summit North and West appear. Haley Kinnison, Emily Garcia and Shae Boyd have all continued to excel in college softball. 

The weekend ends with a stop at 1 p.m. by the popular Missouri Mavericks hockey team. Visit with Mavericks star Dave Pszenyczny and Joe Ryzicki, also known as the Sin Bin. 

Along with all the star athletes and competing for sports trivia prizes, sports booth visitors will also see area team mascots over the weekend. For more on this year's Downtown Days festival schedule log onto www.leessummitdowntowndays.com.

2-4 p.m.: Missouri Comets Indoor Soccer and Calvin the Canine
4-6 p.m.: FC Kansas City Blues Women's Soccer
6-8 p.m.: Kansas City Storm Women's Pro Football
8-9 p.m.: Jon Beck, USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame

10 a.m.-noon: Kansas City T-Bones Baseball and Sizzle 
Noon-2 p.m.: Jaime Bluma, Kansas City Royals Alum, and Alphonso Hodge, Kansas City Chiefs Alum
2-4 p.m.: "Tiger Time" with Andy Lock and Jay Wilson, Mizzou Alumni
4-6 p.m.: Nick Garcia, Kansas City Wizards Soccer Alum
7-9 p.m.: Kansas City Roller Warriors

11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Haley Kinnison, Lee's Summit North Alum; Emily Garcia & Shae Boyd, Lee's Summit West Alumni
Noon-1 p.m.: Blue, Sporting Kansas City's Mascot
1-2 p.m.: Mac, Misouri Mavericks' Mascot
1-3 p.m.: Missouri Mavericks Hockey, Dave Pszenyczny and Sin Bin Joe.
