Lee's Summit West women's swimming and diving team defeated Blue Springs 164 to 145 in their first meet of the new semester on Tuesday Jan. 4.

Lee's Summit West had no new state qualifiers in this meet, but two girls that previously qualified bettered their times. Alyson Raymond dropped her 100 fly to 101.9 which will really help her chances of getting into top 16 at state and Jean Madison dropped her breastroke by seven tenths of a second putting her in second place in the state right now. Coach Colleen Gibler comments, "obviously she has a goal of going for the gold!"

Allyson Raymond and Jean Madison each had two individual first place finishes. Raymond in the 200 yard freestyle(2:07.41) and 100 yard butterfly(1:01.95). Madison in the 50 yard freestyle(26 sec.) and 100 yard breaststroke(1:09.20). Both Raymond and Madison were on the winning 200 yard relay team.

The junior varsity squad travels to Park Hill this weekend and the varsity travels to Springfield.
