Kansas City Veterans Hospital Volunteers
April 20, 2011
By Maisie Rodenbaugh VFW News Assist. Editor
A luncheon was held at the Disabled American Veterans VFW Post for all the volunteers at the KCVA. There are 400 volunteers that participate in this program for our Veterans of all wars. This program saves the KCVA approximately $100,000,000 a year. About 200 attended. The DAV auxiliary served the delicous meal. Several members received citations for hours that they have donated. Ms Morgan has been a volunteer for 48 years and has donated over 18,000 hours.
Plans were made by our Volunteer Services employees, Monique and Melissa.Thank you for your generous time and planning and the picture taking was the life of the party, especially the wearing of the hats. If anyone has a few free hours, volunteers are always needed. All VFW Auxiliaries will be donating tote bags to the hospital for the Veterans to give to loved ones for Mother’s Day. In June socks will be donated for Father’s Day.
The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him but because he loves what is behind him. KEEP VOLUNTEERING!!!!!!!
