POW/MIA Remembrance Day and Fish Fry

VFW Post 5789 Ladies Auxiliary will be serving Fish and Chips on Friday Sept. 16, 2011, at the post home located at 329 S.E. Douglas.  Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will consist of fried fish, French fries, hush puppies, coffee, tea and dessert.

All About Phil Silvain of Lake Lotawana

On January 3rd, 1929 a son was born to Frank and Eunice Moray Silvain in Kansas City, Ks. and they named him Phillip. His father was employed at the Amour Packing Co in Kansas City, Ks. At the age of three the family moved south of Belton. His father then worked at DuPont and eventually worked at Lake City. Phil attended school in the Belton school district.

VFW and Ladies Auxiliary Joplin Tornado Relief Efforts

My Dear Auxiliary Sisters, I am so thankful that you are all safe.   I just got back from Joplin and the devastation there is unbelievable.  The loss of life and the damage done to the City of Joplin is something I have never seen before and pray that I never see it again.
