VFW Post 5789 and Ladies Auxiliary held their 66th annual installation of officers

May 11, 2012

Eric Sullivan, Commander
Brenda McCann, President
of the Ladies Auxiliary

VFW Post 5789 and Ladies Auxiliary held their 66th annual installation of officers recently at their building in downtown Lee's Summit.

Eric Sullivan, a Navy veteran of Operation Desert Storm, was installed as Commander of Post 5789.  He is shown with Brenda McCann, who was installed as President of the Ladies Auxiliary.  Eric is a native of the Upper Penisula of Michigan, and is an English instructor at Longview Community College.  He resides in Lee's Summit with his wife, Tracy, and their two young daughters.  Brenda's membership in the Ladies Auxiliary is based on her son James' Marine Corps duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Post 5789 will be distributing their familiar Buddy Poppies this month, and will display the Avenue of Flags at the Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery during the Memorial Day holiday period.  The public is invited to attend the annual memorial service that will be conducted on Memorial Day at 8:00a.m.at the cemetery
