VFW Post 5789 Plans Veterans Day Activities in Lee's Summit

VFW Post 5789 in Lee’s Summit is planning the following activities during the Veterans Day weekend: Post 5789 will conduct a remembrance service to celebrate the service of all veterans on Sunday morning, November 11th (the traditional Veterans Day) at 8:00 a.m.
This event will be held at the All-Veterans Memorial in William B. Howard Station Park in downtown Lee’s Summit.
Post 5789 will honor the service of those veterans residing at the John Knox Village Care Center with a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12th. The Care Center is located at 600 NW Pryor Road.
Members of Post 5789 will hold a Veterans in the Classroom program for 6th grade students at Richardson Elementary School at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 12th. The school is located at 800 NE Blackwell Road in Lee’s Summit.
Summit Theater Group and VFW Post 5789 are co-producing the war drama “A Piece of My Heart” at the Cultural Arts Center of MCC-Longview. Performance dates are November 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 at 7:30 p.m. and November 4 and 11 at 2:30 p.m.
Betsy Sexton is directing this play which deals with the lives of women who served in Vietnam during the war there. Tickets are available at the door for all performances.
Ticket prices for adults are $13, tickets for students, seniors, and all veterans are $10.
