Dave Franklin Young of Lee's Summit passed away August 29, 2012.
He was born April 2, 1941 in Salinas, CA.
Dave married Deanna Braley in Kansas City, MO April 28, 1962.
He finished four years in the Air Force in Austin Texas, and then worked for the Associated Press in New York, Raleigh NC, Wichita, KC, Des Moines (for 17 years), Chicago, and returned to KC in 1992.
He retired from AP after 37 years. His other passions included hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deanna, daughter Ruth (Dave) Monaghan Cincinnati, OH, son Brent (Jean) Indianapolis, daughter Christine (Gene) Denny of Des Moines, IA and seven grandchildren, nine brothers and sisters (Ron, Susan, Stan, John, Mark, Tom, Saphronia, Becky, Nancy), stepmother Verlie Young. He was preceded in death by his mother Katherine Turner, brother Robert Warner, and father Leo Young.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 2nd at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd St., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.
Visitation 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., service will be 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ducks Unlimited at www.ducks.org.
