David H. Metheny

David H. Metheny, 85, of Lake Winnebago, MO, passed away on December 22, 2013 at John Knox Village, Lee's Summit, MO. A celebration of his life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
Dave was born May 21, 1928 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Harrison and Edna Artz Metheny. He was a graduate of Lee's Summit High School in 1946 and Park College in Parkville, MO in 1950 where he majored in mathematics.
Dave was an Eagle Scout and a member of Mic-O-Say. He was employed at Burton Motors, Inc., a Dodge dealership in Lee's Summit, for 44 years and owned Burton Motors for 24 years before it closed when he retired in 1988.
He was a past member of the Kansas City Metro Dodge Dealer Group, the Missouri Automobile Association and the National Automobile Dealer Association. He lived at Lake Winnebago for 30 years where he was a member of the Home Owners Association, Investment Club and Arrowhead Yacht Club. Dave was also an avid golfer and carpenter, and an excellent trumpet player.
Survivors include sons Mike and Pat, daughter-in-law Latifa, grandchildren Nicolas, Jeffrey and Maya, and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife of 62 years, Lois Hansen Metheny, preceded him in 2011 as did his three sisters Lorene Metheny Knight (2009), Mary Metheny Putman (2010) and Ethel Metheny Bricker (2010).
Throughout the course of his 85 years, Dave lived a good and successful life based on impeccable integrity, impressive intellect and hard work. It was a combination that served him well.
