Don E. Roberts

October 8, 2010

Don E. Roberts, 50, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away October 5, 2010.

Don was born February 20, 1960 in Independence, MO to Phillip and Linda Roberts.

Don was a 1978 graduate of Raytown South High School.  He was an Eagle Scout and a proud member of the Tribe of Mic-o-say.  Don prided himself on his ability to make people happy by filling their bellies. He was a certified chef and early on in his career, he was the general manager for 10 years with Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Restaurants, a time in his life that he was very proud.  He then was able to fulfill his dream of owning and operating Neighbors Café in Lee’s Summit and Pleasant Hill, MO.  He was an avid sports fan; following the KC Chiefs, NASCAR, and MU. Don loved spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, traveling, and most of all, he enjoyed riding his Harley.  Don’s friends and customers will remember him as fun-loving, friendly, supportive, energetic, lover of people, children, and animals.

Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Sheryl, his father, Phillip (Dianne) Roberts, his mother, Linda (Curtis) Danford,  five children, Alex, Danielle, and Bailey Roberts, and Lacy and Dillon Higginbotham, a grandson, Carmine Hirko, two brothers, Larry (Gabby) Roberts and  Andy (Cindy) Aziere, three sisters, Robin Roberts, Kim Steyer, and Traci (Trent) Rand, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 10th, 9:00-10:00 AM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home. A gathering will be held following the ceremony at the Edge of Town on 40 HWY in Blue Springs- Chiefs attire welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to March of Dimes Bikers for Babies, 4400 College Blvd, Ste 180, Overland Park, KS 66211.  Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.dwnewcomers.com (Arrangements:  D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO 64133, 816-353-1218)
