Donald “Don” Dean Johnson

Donald “Don” Johnson, 83, Lee’s Summit, MO, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit. Funeral Services were held Monday, May 12, 2014 at Adrian Christian Church in Adrian, MO, with visitation at the church. Burial was held at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to: Adrian Athletic Department, care of Adrian High School, in honor of “Don Johnson, Class of 1949. He was an avid Youth Sports Fan.

After graduating from Adrian High School, he worked for the Kansas City Railroad. Donald also served in residential construction for most of his life. After retiring from construction, he worked as co-owner of A&A/Mojo’s Backflow Services with his son, Monte.

On June 6, 1954, Donald married Wilma “Arlene” Jones of Kansas City, MO at the Beaumont Baptist Church. Don and Arlene celebrated 59 years and 11 months of marriage before his passing. They have three children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leland Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Johnson and wife Francine of Lee’s Summit; three sisters, Jeweldine Smith of Adrian, Rita Scott of Adrian, and Linda Zelazny and husband Gerald of Sierra Vista, AZ; three children, Ron Johnson of Fayetteville, AR, Cheryl (Johnson) Neeley and husband Mark of independence, MO, Monte Johnson and wife Charlotte of Adrian; eight grandchildren, La Chae, Luke, Nicole, Eileen, Samantha, Ashley, Anson (Donald) and Abbie; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jonathan, Colin, Hayden and Evangeline. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
