Dr. Theodore William “Ted” White, Sr

Dr. Theodore William “Ted” White, Sr., age 72, of Aurora, Missouri passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at his office in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.  He was born on November 4, 1938 in Gallup, New Mexico, the son of John W. and Elizabeth Leonel (Cunningham) White.  Ted was a 1956 graduate of Columbus High School in Columbus, Kansas.  He did his undergraduate at Pittsburg State, attended West Pointe and received his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston in Houston Texas.  On April 29, 1961 he married Myrna Capps in Sedan, Kansas. She survives him of the home.

Dr. White started his Optometry practice in Aurora, Missouri in 1961 where he was for 29 years until he moved it to Mt. Vernon, Missouri in 1990.  Ted was a member of the Missouri Optometrist Association, Shriners, he was a third generation of the Free Mason’s, a member of the Lawrence County Republic Party, Rotary, a member of the Legendary 12 Man Golf Team, served on the Aurora Park Board, a member of the Aurora Economic Development Committee, served on the Aurora School Board and was a die-hard Houn Dawg Football Fan.

Additional survivors include: one daughter, Tiffany Means and her husband, Mike of Aurora, Missouri; two sons, Theodore W. White, Jr. of Utah, Ryan White and his wife, Tiffany of Highlandville, Missouri; two brothers, John White and his wife, Betty and Richard White and his wife Alice all of Columbus, Kansas; one sister, Myrtle Lee Stone of Seal Beach, California; four grandchildren, Michael Stewart Theodore Means II, Montgomery Lynn Means, Reece Jackson Theodore White and Morgan Mae White.  His parents and nephew, John Ed White preceded him in death.

A memorial service under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Ted and Myrna’s farm.  Memorial donations may be made to The Midwestern Innocence Project or the Larry Stewart Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
