Edna W. Hearns

Edna W. Hearns of Lee's Summit, 89, died on March 20. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Southside Christian Church, 7304 Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the church. Interment will be held at a later date at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis. 

Born September 18, 1927 in St. Louis, MO, Edna was the oldest of four children.  She received her elementary and secondary education in the St. Louis public school system. After graduating from high school in 1945, Edna attended Harris-Stowe Teachers College for three years. She married Horace A. Hearns, Jr. and they had two sons. After raising their children, Edna became a teacher's aide and touched the lives of many children in the St. Louis public schools.  

She later moved to Lee's Summit to be closer to her family. Edna had many interests and hobbies, which included music, spending time with her family and collecting memorabilia. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years and son, Steven. Edna leaves to cherish her memory, her son Philip, two daughters-in-law, a brother and two sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and friends.
