JERRY L. VOSS
Jerry L. Voss, 63, of Destin, FL, formerly of Blue Springs, MO, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2012. Born July 13, 1949, to Glenn and Charlotte Voss in St. Louis, MO.
Jerry received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Central Missouri State University in Education. He was a dedicated educator with Lee's Summit High School for 33 years, retiring in 2004.
Jerry served as president of MSTA from 2001-2002. After retiring to Florida, Jerry continued his dedication to education by substitute teaching at Fort Walton Beach High School. He was a loving husband and father, and proud grandfather. Jerry loved the beach and was passionate about beach restoration in Destin and proudly served on the Board of Directors for Sandpiper Cove.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Seth William. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kathryn "Katie"; daughter, Vanessa (Jeff) Colvin; brother, Robin (Lisa) Voss; granddaughter, Maggie; nephew, Alan Voss, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at White Chapel Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
