Judy Marie Foster Mallen

Judy Marie Foster Mallen, 66, of Lee's Summit passed away, Friday morning at University of Kansas Medical Center after a long battle with cancer and undergoing a stem-cell transplant.

Judy was born October 23, 1945 in Butler, Missouri to Robert Cecil Foster and Margaret Louise Young Foster. She attended school in Archie and Urich, Missouri, graduating high school from Urich in 1963. After high school, Judy attended Central Missouri State College and graduated with her bachelor's in Music Education in 1966. She taught music for the Miami, Missouri school district for 2 years and then in Belton, Missouri for 1 year. In 1967, Judy was awarded the title Miss Bates County and went on to be 3rd runner-up in the Miss Missouri Pageant the same year. In 1969, Judy left teaching to become a flight attendant for Braniff International Airlines and travelled the world with them for the next 21 years. After Braniff's bankruptcy, Judy worked as: a travel agent at Sky International Travel and American Express Travel; as a record's clerk for the Lee's Summit Police Department; and as a legal secretary to the prosecutor of Lee's Summit. Judy was a long-time member of the Lee's Summit Christian Church where she loved singing in the choir and playing in the bell choir.
 
Judy is succeeded in death by her father, Robert, in 1973 and many beloved aunts and uncles.
 
Judy is survived by: her mother Margaret Foster of Lee's Summit; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Jason Quint of Kansas City; granddaughter and light of her life Annaliese Paige Quint; brothers and sister-in-laws Gerald and Agnes Foster of Lee's Summit & Jim and Kathy Foster of Jefferson City, Missouri;  and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
 
Judy was a joy to everyone who knew her. No one met her who didn't love her. She was a strong, wise, gentle and beautiful woman who loved her family more than anything in the world. Our world will not be the same without her.
 
Visitation and funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd with visitation being from 9-11a.m. and funeral at 11a.m. at the Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd Street, Lee's Summit, Missouri 64063. Burial will follow at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, Missouri.

    Melissa, I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She had such a spark, a beautiful smile, and a kind heart. I wish I had got to know her even better. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
