She was born on June 22, 1952 in Peoria, IL. Kathy was preceded in death by her first husband, William (Bill) Perry Hampton and her father, Albert Edwin Reynolds Carlson. Survivors include her mother Helen Mayme (Miller) Carlson, of Grandview, MO; her two brothers and their spouses Wayne Edwin and Glenna Carlson of St. Ives, England and David (Dave) Lee and Velma Carlson of Ball, LA. She is also survived by her children Michael (Mike) Dale Hampton and wife Lara of Belton, MO, Adam Perry Hampton of Lee's Summit, MO and Damon Daniel Buckholz of Cordova, TN as well as her grandchildren Aubrey Erin, Jordan Mee-Song, Alexander (Alex) Chan-Min of Belton, MO; and Sydney Janann, and William (Will) Michael, of Lee's Summit, MO.

Kathy worked for the Lee's Summit Post Office for over 25 years.  She loved to travel and had visited every state in the  union, over 30 countries and every continent except Antarctica (which she had hopes to do).  She was a dearly loved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend to all she knew. She has requested cremation.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit, MO on Friday, January 21 from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Center. The family also thanks the staff and volunteers at the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their professional and caring support.
