Richard Thomas “Tommy” Griffin

Richard Thomas “Tommy” Griffin, 74, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed on Saturday March 4, 2017.
 
Visitation will be Thursday at Langsford Funeral Home from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at Our Lady of the Presentation at 11am. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan G. Koman Foundation. Tommy was born February 27, 1943 in St. Joseph, MO. While serving in the U.S. Army, he met the love of his life, Assunta Piccini, while stationed in Italy. After serving his time, he, Assunta, and their 3 children, settled in Lee’s Summit, MO where he started his career with the U.S. Postal Service. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed playing cards and games with many of their friends and family. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Wilbert and Anna Margaret (Hans) Griffin; four brothers, Clarence Jr., Ronald, William, and Michael Griffin. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Assunta Griffin; three children, Anna Margaret (Dennis) Schank, Emily Jean Miller, and William Frederick Griffin, II; grandchildren, Brittany, Caleb, Dylan, Austin, Logan, and Drake; great-grandchild, Emery; brothers, Lawrence (Suzanne) and David (Tamara) Griffin; sisters, Margaret “Peggy”(John) Martin, Mary (John) Maples, Pamela (Darrell) Oswald, and Carol (Jeff) Gregg; and many family and friends.
