Tribe of Mic-O-Say Memorial Service for Warrior Swift Bright Dancing Shooting Star, will be at 7:00 p.m Friday, August 6th.
Steve was born in Independence on August 23, 1969. He was a 1987 graduate from Fort Osage High School. While in high school, Steve earned his Eagle Scout and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Marketing and Computer Sciences.
While in college, Steve met his best friend and the love of his life, Melissa Kay Mudroch. They were married on July 16, 1994 and moved to Lee’s Summit where he and Melissa started their family. His pride and joy were his children, Spencer (11), Sydney (8), and Samantha (4).
Steve began his career with Universal Underwriters then transitioned to Sprint. He earned his master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Kansas. Focusing on spending more time with his family, Steve began his own business, First Star Financial Group and helped found Show Me Angels, an investors networking group.
Steve has been an active leader in the community. He served on the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce for 7 years, most recently on the Board of Directors and Educational committee. Steve also served as Chamber Ambassador and was a member on the Emerging Entrepreneurs & Economic Development committees. In 2004, Steve was honored by receiving the New Member of the Year Award.
Steve had a servant’s heart and his life was spent looking for ways to help others. He was a Christian who spread the love of Jesus through his actions. Steve was an active church member and a drummer on the praise team. Steve was committed to his family and a devoted father. He was passionate about attending his children’s events: sports, scouts, concerts, and performances. Steve loved going on family vacations and creating wonderful family memories. He enjoyed fishing, running, and playing percussion in the band, ‘The People Next Door.’ Steve had a delightful sense of humor, and infectious smile that could light up a room, and was quite the prankster. Steve loved life.
He is survived by his wife; son and daughters; father and mother, Delmar and Maxine Gouldsmith; brothers, Ed Gouldsmith (Susie) and Danny Lui; sisters, Kathy Lundquist (Mike), Suzanne Bendorf (Reggie), Linda Beezley (Mike), and Angie Milligan (Tom); in-laws, Jack and Marcia Mudroch, Laura Griffin (Lorenzo) and Kim Mudroch (Vance); and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to an educational fund for the children of Steve Gouldsmith or to the Lee Ann Britain Center. Contributions may be made via the Gouldsmith Children Education Fund, Great Southern Bank, 150 SE Todd George Parkway, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063 or via the Foundation for Shawnee Mission Medical Center on behalf of the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center at 7315 Frontage Road, Ste. 221, Shawnee Mission, KS 66204.
