Ted (Theodore) H. Ruhling, Sr., 89, passed away quietly at home on October 17, 2013, surrounded by loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and granddaughter, Teddi Hayes. He was fortunate to find love again and is survived by his wife, Mary Lou.
He is also survived by five children, Ted Ruhling, Kathleen Martin, Amanda Fletcher, Andrew Snell and Samantha Snell; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Bartholomew, Brandi Ruhling, Jason Jennings, Errin Tosh, Juston Jennings, Matthew Fletcher, Emily Franks, and Shaunay Martin; five great grandchildren, Maci, Abriella, Benjamin, Molli and Addison.
Ted lived life to its fullest and had many interests in inventing, travel, antique cars and boats, and most of all, enjoying his family.
Ted lived in Lee’s Summit, MO for many years, moving later in life to Granbury, TX.
As a WWII veteran he proudly and courageously served his country receiving several medals and honors, including two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Soldiers Medal and the Missouri Medal of Heroism.
A military service is scheduled at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS 66048 for 11:00 AM, Friday October 25, 2013, arrangements through Heartland Cremation and Burial, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Rainbow Division Veterans Memorial Foundation Scholarship Fund c/o Benjamin Pettus 801 NE Jamestown Ct. Blue Springs, MO 64014-1847 may be given in memory.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
