Virginia Mae Sass Poynter

Virginia Mae Sass Poynter, 82, formerly of Lake Lotawana and Lexington, MO, passed away July 20, 2012, at John Knox Village House, Lee’s Summit, MO. Cremation. Memorial Service 3 pm, Friday, July 27, Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church, Lake Lotawana, MO.
(On Colbern Road just east of 7 Hwy., at Gate # 1)

Ginny was born Feb 5, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Grace Sass. She married Ken Poynter in 1951. After several job-related moves, they raised their family in Lexington, MO. In 1985, they moved to Lake Lotawana. Ginny was a member of the church, the Altar Sunday School Class, and the Lake Lotawana Community Club.

Ginny loved to send letters and holiday cards.  She followed her grandkids to scout camp, dance competitions, piano recitals, choir concerts, horse shows, graduations, and weddings. She liked to sail, read, needlepoint, travel the world, and tell stories of her Chicago childhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ginny’s love and spirit lives on in her children Karen Fahrmeier, Vicki (Freddie) Grechus, and Scott (Pat) Poynter;  grandchildren Julie Novak, Bruce Fahrmeier, Molly (Robert) Wichman, Lori (Joey) Lamb, and Bryan Poynter;  great-grandchildren Shelby Novak, Ansley Novak, Savannah Lamb, Jackson Wichman, and unborn baby girl Lamb – due any day!

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church, 28901 NE Colbern Road, Lake Lotawana, MO  64086 or the Lake Lotawana Community Club Rose Garden, % Sandy Hassler, 8719 South Boten Road, Lee's Summit, MO  64064
