Adam Hall Letter to Editor
May 5, 2010
Letter to the Editor:
My name is Adam Hall and I am a 17-year-old Boy Scout in Troop 366, Lee’s Summit. For my Eagle Scout project, I recently conducted a baby item drive for Lee’s Summit Social Services at the HyVee store at 3rd & Ward on Sunday, May 2.
The turnout was heartwarming and it was obvious that there are a lot of caring people in Lee’s Summit. The generosity of people was outstanding and it seemed like every shopper bought something to donate. The team of volunteers and I were all amazed at the overwhelming number of donations:
* 22 boxes and 58 package of diapers = 4,218 diapers * 100 baby wipe containers * 78 packages of baby wipe refills * 107 cans of formula * 372 jars of baby food * 308 plastic packs of baby food * 92 boxes of cereal and rice * 47 bottles of baby shampoo, wash, lotion, and powder * 22 juice and snack food packages * Approximately 100 used baby clothes and a box of baby bottles
Over 1,345 items were collected in just an 8-hour period that Sunday. I have no doubt that Lee’s Summit Social Services and the families that use their services are very appreciative, especially since everything is being delivered right before Mother’s Day.
I would like to thank everyone who helped make this project such a success – everyone who helped me get the word out about the drive; everyone who donated; the manager and employees of HyVee; the team of Scouts, friends and family members who volunteered to collect, organize, count and deliver the donations; and anyone else who contributed in any way. I greatly appreciate your help.

This is a great project for your eagle and the fact that you took the time to follow up with this letter to the people who helped, just goes to show how much you deserve the honor of being an Eagle Scout. GOOD JOB!
