Be The Blessing, January 11, 2014

Be The Blessing, January 11, 2014

By Tina Chandler

It never ceases to amaze me just how deep words can cut. Reality is, we all say things that hurt others. Seek guidance on not only WHAT to say but HOW to say it. There is a better way.

Assess the situation. You know yourself better than anyone else. You may fall back on the excuse that you were just mad and couldn’t help yourself! Hogwash! You CAN control your tongue. Believe me, I know it can be done. I am the self-proclaimed queen of sharp words. For years, they spewed forth from my uncontrolled mouth. It took a taste of my own medicine to make me realize just what I was doing. It’s hard to control, but you can do it!

If something or someone makes you angry or upset, STOP before you speak. Think, breathe and choose the right words. I am not saying to stand there defenseless and not make your point. I AM saying to be careful with HOW and WHAT you say. There is always a better way to say something.

Psalm 34:13-14 (KJV)

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
