Be the Blessing March 9, 2013 by Tina Chandler

March 9, 2013

By Tina Chandler

When life moves in fast-forward, it’s up to us to slow it down, take a few deep breaths and get our priorities in order.  Don’t let stuff get in the way.  When we have too much going on, we tend to let things slide.  The easiest things to let go of are the things that are on the edge of our lives. A lot of our time is spent spinning our wheels, running in place. It’s hard to slow down and breathe.  Find a few minutes every day, maybe several times a day, to clear your mind, to pray, restart your thought process and be thankful.  Thankfulness is a way of paying respect to those who came before you – those who paved the way for you – those who secured your freedom. That not only includes military members, but leaders, family, friends, teachers. Think about your parents that loved you, the high school teacher that inspired you, the boss that drove you to succeed. How can you show thanks to them?  One way is to live a life filled with purpose and grace. Having a purpose that begins with thoughtful love and intention is a strong base for building a life that matters.

The best example we have ever been given is the life of Jesus Christ.  His obedience to God’s plan secured our freedom from sin, freedom from death, freedom from punishment. Jesus taught us to love God and love each other.

If we simply follow those two examples, we will fulfill the purpose meant for our lives.  Loving God means that we first believe in Him, then that we revere and honor Him, ultimately asking for Christ’ forgiveness.  Loving others is a way of showing God that we get it. We get what He sent Jesus here to do!  We know that by living a gracious life, we lift others up. We put the needs of others above our own.  We become a blessing just by being in God’s presence. When we allow Him to guide us, to teach us – we become more aware of others and their circumstances. We will begin to recognize when someone needs a hand, a hug or an ear. Whatever they need, you can be.

Live a life filled with purpose and grace – Be the Blessing
