City Charter Amendment By Stephen Claxton

April 1, 2017

Dear Editor,

Why would anyone agree to change the current charter? If you want cronyism then sure vote for it. Lee’s Summit has had problems with this type of representation in the past. Changing the charter would set the city back to the dark ages.

We are not a city of 20k residents. We are a city that has been progressive and modernized model. Control by certain city insiders and a small group of outsiders want to change the way our government operates. Not me.

I believe in a strong council form of government. So we have had some bad blood between elected officials and a small contingency of political outsiders who want to control our governments operating and governing body.

I say don't tread on me.

May our government in Lee's Summit function efficiently and effectively by not approving any amendments to the charter.
