Congratulations to Lee’s Summit for being designated as a Bicycle Friendly Community and a Walk Friendly Community.
November 10, 2012
In keeping with the “Livable Streets” initiative: City Council seems intent on cutting Blackwell Road through to 50 Highway and building an interchange at that location.
Blackwell Road runs directly through the subdivision of Canterbury, with residents on the west side of the subdivision having to walk across Blackwell to get to the Canterbury swim pool. Envision traffic on Blackwell being as busy and fast-moving as on Todd George once the interchange is completed. Blackwell will no longer be the beautiful Livable Street it is now.
We have already lost one child on Blackwell Road. Instead of splitting up a wonderful neighborhood, wouldn’t it make more sense to put an interchange at Smart Road where there have been many, often fatal, accidents and where the interchange isn’t as close to the Todd George interchange or so close to existing neighborhoods?
