I love Greenwood. It is my chosen home. I cherish the family spirit of the people living here, the quality of life, and the sense of community. This week, when nearby Oak Grove suffered such losses, the true character of our citizens, of our community once again came to light. Greenwood is a well-kept secret as a quality place to live and raise a family. I am grateful for that and I wanted to serve my community and give back to place and the people who have created and maintained our City--our residents. I chose to serve our community officially by running for alderman. When the previous mayor resigned, I was serving as mayor pro-tem and deeply humbled and honored by the responsibility, the trust and the chance to become mayor and continue serving in a greater capacity.
Why do I want to be Mayor?
I want to be mayor because, quite frankly, I live in the very best community around for residents of all ages. It is a community with people who have made life great for my family, and I am committed to do everything I can to give back. Greenwood has tremendous potential to better serve our residents into the future if we develop a effective, thoughtfully planned, collaborative, inclusive and well-executed strategy. While I have been blessed to serve as Mayor there is much more to be done. We need to increase economic and business opportunities, contend with an aging infrastructure and address improved amenities for our growing community while maintaining our safe, secure and neighborly home to raise our families and pursue our dreams.
Why am I the best person for the job?
I am the mayor who can facilitate moving Greenwood forward while maintaining and preserving the great qualities already existing in our community. In my service as Mayor and on the Board of Alderman, I have increased collaboration, strengthened community relationships, brought a renewed sense of community spirit and action to address pressing issues. More residents are getting actively involved in our community and that has already led to more thorough discussion of community matters and resulted in better solutions. While I love our community, it's past and present, we must work very hard and work together to face the future challenges every community has. I have the passion, the commitment, and the proven record to serve and lead our residents towards the community they want to have for many years to come.
