From The Heart Of Open Range

January 25, 2014

By Pastor Frank Slaughter

"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. And the God of peace will be with you."--Philippians 4:8-9b

This is the time of year where we can let the cold and those short dark days start to get to us. They call it cabin fever and it can literally lead to depression if we let it.

Whenever I feel this negative force start to creep into my day….I make myself think about the coming of Spring and the explosion of flowers and colors that it brings. I also think about things like getting on the trails with my horse.

Spiritually, I think we need to focus on the positive aspects of life as the Apostle Paul points out in this verse above.

If we can just focus on the good not the bad and focus on the positive and not the negative we will find joy again. We should always try to keep your eye’s upon Jesus. He will see us through!

Our Prayer for today

"Dear Heavenly Father, help us in our time of need. Help us to keep our eye’s on YOU! Guide us Lord and keep us Lord! You are our refuge and strength. Lord, we want to focus on YOU and ALL that is good…..and it’s in the name of Jesus that we pray, Amen!"
