I note with amusement humorist Gene DeVaux's

Saturday, February 20, 2010
Dear Editor,

I note with amusement humorist Gene DeVaux's witless letter telling us that our taxes are too low and need to be raised.  Really?  I don't think so.  In fact, they are too high and need to be lowered.  But Gene, thanks for sharing.

Helen Gough should tell the 100,000 Missourians who have lost their Medicaid coverage that my comments were humerism. You should tell Melanie Blunt, the former first lady of Missouri, that cutting the Parents as Teachers program by 28% is funny. When the Republicans cut taxes, people lose benefits and programs are cut. When Republicans cut state taxes, school districts must raise their property taxes to make for cuts in state funding. If you find that funny, Mrs. Gough, you have a twisted sense of humor. Taxes pay for the things that we need in this state and cutting taxes only undermines the future of the state of Missouri.
