Imagine that you are a wealthy personality,
January 15, 2010
Editor Imagine that you are a wealthy personality, say a radio talk show host. Then imagine that you have a huge and loyal audience. Last year you signed a contract that paid you $100 million as a signing bonus and fifty million dollars a year for eight years to continue expressing your opinions on the radio on a daily basis. Your last eight year contract paid you half a billion dollars to flap your jaws to a gullible audience. Over 16 years as a propagandist, you will make a billion dollars.
Now imagine that with the right words and some of that huge salary, you could help relieve the suffering of the people of Haiti. You could make donations to provide food and shelter to the people of that devastated country, and you would still have plenty of money to buy your drugs, your cigars, and to lead a lavish life style. With your huge daily audience you could encourage millions of your listeners to make donations to Doctors without Borders, Partners in Health, or other charitable organizations that would provide medical treatment and basic necessities to the survivors of a horrible earthquake in that very poor country.
Now imagine that you are so twisted that what you do, instead of helping, is you tell your listeners not to donate money for Haitian humanitarian relief. If you can envision being that kind of person, you can imagine what it would be like to be Rush Limbaugh. Please don’t be like Rusty Limbaugh, make a donation to help the poor people of Haiti during their time of pain and sorrow.
