Missing Morals: Give It To God
January 26, 2013
By Jessica Root Intern Reporter for the Tribune intern@lstribune.net
This week I stumbled across forgotten song lyrics, never accompanied by music. The author is my inspiration; he’s fuel that gives me the push I need conquer the world. He has a really big heart and even bigger dreams that I can’t help but want to be a part of.
The lyrics tell a tale of life-changing heartbreak as the author’s carefully crafted words melt together to illustrate a love we all desire, whether or not we want to admit it. Those lyrics rest lifeless under the name “Untitled” and maybe that’s appropriate because life and love go hand in hand.
You must love what you’re doing to truly live, and you can’t truly share your love until you truly love yourself. Often times, we learn that the hard way.
To love yourself, do what you love. Love, in any form, can’t be something that’s done halfway. Love fiercely and passionately to get the most out of life.
When you find something that you love, fight for it and do everything in your power not to let it go... No matter how hard it gets. Jesus loves us like that, and we’re supposed to love like Him.
This week, pray for the people that you love fiercely and passionately, even if they’re 22 miles away or no longer on this earth. Love is untitled. It doesn’t need a rhyme or reason; it needs God to make it complete. Give your heartache to Him and He will hear you.
We all cling to our heartaches, forgetting what truly matters. We lose love to death or changed feelings or even our own selfish ways; it’s a fact of being human, we accept the love we think we deserve (thank you, “Perks of Being a Wallflower”).We forget that there’s someone up there bigger than all of us who is forever on our side. God will bring you the kind of love you deserve; all you have to do is ask.
People are brought into our life for a reason, if only to be there for a quick moment to show us who we’re supposed to be, and the truth is, love changes us. Whether it’s the love of our parents, our first-born child or the person we are meant to spend our lives with, love defines everything we are. Say a prayer for those that you love, and ask God to give you the strength to accept His awesome love rather than dwell on the love you lost.
We’re all broken and damaged in some way because we have forgotten how to love. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
The author of the forgotten song lyrics speaks for us all. Love changed him and for whatever reason, he lost it. Powerful love is waiting for all of us if we just reach for God’s helping hand. It’s time to give it to God.
