The Lee's Summit R-7 School District Board of Education approved names for two new district facilities at a July 23 meeting. Both facilities are funded by an April 2008 voter-approved, no-tax-increase bond issue.
Several Summit Technology Academy students recently won awards in the SkillsUSA annual National Leadership and Skills Conference, a showcase of career and technical education students. The annual event was held in late June in Kansas City and included student representatives from throughout the United States.
Peggy Chandler, registered nurse at Lee's Summit Elementary, Longview Farm Elementary and Cedar Creek Elementary, was recognized Aug. 3 by Healthe Kids, a comprehensive health-screening program. Brie Cantrell of Healthe Kids presented Ms. Chandler with the recognition during a Lee's Summit R-7 School District Health Services Department meeting.
