Boy Scout Troop 1054 Of Lee’s Summit Announces Four New Eagle Scouts: Dalton Sterbenz

December 17, 2016

Boy Scout Troop 1054, which meets at Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Lee’s Summit, is proud to  announce four new Eagle Scouts. These young men and their families were recognized in a formal Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Sunday, December 11, 2016. A reception followed which included a ceremonial dance by the Mic-o-Say dancers. Eagle is the highest rank obtainable in Scouting, and the tribe of Mic-o-Say is an honor society and leadership enhancement program used by the local Heart of America Council of Boy Scouts.

The four Scouts recognized were Derrick Cretel, Caleb DeDonder, Colton Grube and Dalton Sterbenz.

Dalton Sterbenz, 18, is the son of Alan and Barbie Sterbenz, Lee’s Summit. Dalton originally joined Cub Scouts with Pack 264 of Lee’s Summit as a tiger cub in first grade. He joined Pack 4054 as a bear in third grade, and eventually earned his Arrow of Light crossing over to Troop 1054 as a Boy Scout in 2010.

Dalton has served in leadership positions with the troop including instructor, historian and den chief for the pack and younger scouts.  He has completed a total of 32 merit badges. Dalton is a warrior in the Tribe of Mic-o-Say and a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. He has also attended the Florida Sea Base High Adventure Camp.

Dalton’s Eagle scout project was completing a Military Alumni Board for his high school, Lee’s Summit High School. Dalton is a senior at Lee’s Summit High School and is very active in AFJROTC, and competes on their Raider team. In JROTC, Dalton has been awarded the Sons of the American Revolution Award, the Reserve Officer’s Association Award, and a Distinguished Service ribbon. Dalton has also qualified for the President’s Physical Fitness Award while in JROTC.

Other achievements include Principal’s Honor Roll, and being a two year varsity letterman in wrestling. Dalton also represents the high school in baseball and has competed on a college showcase baseball team since eighth grade.

After high school, Dalton plans on attending college to pursue a degree in biology. His ultimate goal at this time is to become a physical therapist.
