Foster to be recognized for Scouting leadership

Nov. 5, 2011

Tim Foster
of Lee's Summit
Boy Scout Troop 1264

Tim Foster will be recognized by the Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Foster is one of 19 volunteers selected to receive the honor. The awards will be given at the Downtown Kansas City Marriott Hotel, 200 W. 12th St. in Kansas City.

The Heart of America Council is pleased to honor Foster for his commitment to provide outstanding service to young people as an adult volunteer in the Scouting program for many years. Foster, an Eagle Scout and father of 3 Eagle Scout sons, has served as Assistant Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Committee Member, and Committee Chairman for Pack 4264 and Troop 1264 chartered by the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church. Foster currently serves as a Unit Commissioner and Activities Chairman for the Thunderbird District.

The Silver Beaver Award, first presented in 1931, is presented annually by the Boy Scouts of America and the Heart of America Council. The award is authorized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is the highest level of recognition a local Boy Scout council can bestow on a volunteer leader.
