Lees Summit Girl Scout Service Unit 649 is hosting an open house Sunday Aug. 18, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 2409 S State Route 291. This open house is free to all girls and families interested in learning more about Girl Scouting.
Girls and their families interested in the Girl Scout experience are invited to join us to learn more about Girl Scouting, connect with troops in this area and register for the coming school year.
Girl Scouting helps girls to discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through experiences such as extraordinary field trips, badge work and skill-building clinics, community service projects and overnight campouts girls grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others. Girl Scouting is available to girls in grades Kindergarten through Seniors in High School.
Service Unit 649 serves the following schools within the Lees Summit area: Cedar Creek Elementary, Lees Summit Elementary, Lees Summit West High School, Our Lady of Presentation School, Pleasant Lea Elementary, Pleasant Lea Middle School, Summit Christian Academy, Westview Elementary and Woodland Elementary. Any Lees Summit girl interested in Girl Scouting is welcome to stop by regardless of what school she attends, we’ll help her connect to other troops within the Lees Summit community.
