Service Unit 648 Girl Scout Arctic Blast Day Camp was held on August 2-4 at Camp Prairie Schooner. We had 85 Girl Scouts and 35 adults brave the frigid temperatures of the Arctic (well ok cool for Lee’s Summit August temp).
We had lots of fun making puffy polar bear faces, water bottle snowmen, pony bead penguins, snowballs out of cornstarch, button bracelets, tie dying bandanas, no-sew headbands, knit bracelets, seeing how to set up a campsite when our troops come out to camp, learning about fire safety and how to build a campfire by making yummy campfire cookies, learning some sign language, learning about polar bears from our friends from the KC Zoo, learning how to geocache and finding some great treasures there, hiking, swimming, zip lining, repelling, and every Girl Scout earned their complete Science and Technology badge with the help of our friends from the Lee’s Summit North Robotics team.
A huge thanks to all the many hours that everyone put in to make this a great camp!
